See the conditions our chickens live in

We keep our birds in doorless houses within an electric fence. This means they are free to wander, whether that is to forage or find somewhere just right to sit down and be a chicken.

The houses have no bottom and are moved every day to keep the birds clean. This also spreads their poo evenly over the pasture which benefits the grasses and then the cattle.

The fence is moved every week when there is no fresh sward to move the house onto. Also, the grass grows up the fence and shorts it out, so it has to be moved to remain effective.

This is a time consuming way to rear chickens but it is also respectful of the land and the birds.

Increased costs mean we have put our prices up to £7.90 / kg.
