We have wonderful, field reared chickens available, from 2.2kg up to 2.7kg or 6lbs.
In the old days, when a cow was sick, a farmer would turn her into a small herb rich field to recover. Her medicines were the plants growing in the specially maintained hospital field.
We have started growing medicinal plants in the fields so our cattle can be as healthy as possible. The increased biodiversity of the sward also helps make a better balance of minerals available to the plants and the animals who eat them.
Here is a row of clovers and plantain stitched into the sward. Also a strip ready for sowing wild flowers. Im hoping for serious colours and noisy insects next summer.
